Bio

Austin has produced its share of string prodigies, and at the age of 16, Kimberly is poised to take the reins. After fiddling her way to the top of the Old Settler’s Youth Competition in 2012, she was also recognized as an outstanding performer for her classical violin playing by the UIL (University Interscholastic League).

Crossing genres is not new to Kimberly. At the age of nine she began studies with Arkansas State fiddle champion Chris Peterson, who became her band mate in the Lost and Nameless Orchestra. Kimberly began to sing and play bass and piano, inspiring her to begin writing music. She started by adding lyrics to traditional fiddle tunes such as Dark Eyes. This exploration led her to writing songs of all kinds, including Aiden’s, which she wrote for her young nephew and debuted at last year’s Old Settler’s festival.

Kimberly continues to study classical violin under Leah Nelson, and is the Concertmaster of Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock for the third year.  She is also receiving fiddle coaching from Austin great Elana James of Hot Club of Cowtown and attending Mark O’Connor’s Fiddle Camps.

Kimberly’s band, the Lost and Nameless Orchestra, recently played showcases at SXSW and Folk Alliance, headlined at the Kerrville Music and Wine Festival, and is performing at legendary Texas venues including Antone’s, the Continental Club and McGonigel’s Mucky Duck.
